Celebrate Shuswap is a uniquely inspired cross sector collaboration between public, private and community partners, in order to bring the Shuswap’s live music community together. Their commitment is to reinvigorate hope and resiliency in the vibrant performing arts sector, through the power of live music, especially while preparing for recovery from Covid-19.

During October and November 2020, Salmon Arm will celebrate music with local Shuswap artists in a beautiful new venue – Song Sparrow Hall.

Shuswap concert producers Acoustic Avenue Music with partners Lakeshore Village Ltd., Collide Entertainment, and 55 Creative Group have collaborated to curate an amazing lineup, produce, record and market the event.

Celebrate Shuswap will produce a video documentary featuring the original music of 7 different artists recorded between October 17 and November 7. The edited production will highlight the music industry in the Shuswap and will be streamed on various platforms. Artists will be required to follow Provincial Health orders during the recording sessions.

The completed documentary will be available for a streamed presentation by SoundON which will showcase, amplify, and promote Celebrate Shuswap through their own digital platform, media partners, and to a global audience.

Music genres will include jazz, folk, alternative, roots, country, blues and swing. Artists participating in this year’s event are The Emilie Bradford Trio with Jordan Dick and Darrin Hertig; Clea Roddick; Megan Abel; Tara Willard; Devon More; Chicken-Like Birds with Jasmine Frederickson and Ari Lantela; and Jimmy Two Shoes and the Lost Soles with Alton Gowen, Darrin Hertig and James Clark.

A portion of the funding for Celebrate Shuswap is provided by a new SoundON Music Resiliency Fund, administered by Music BC to assist with production and programming costs.

The Barley Station Brew Pub has signed on as Title Sponsor. Presenting Sponsors include Askews Foods; Shuswap District Arts Council – Blair Borden Memorial Award; and, J Grieve Real Estate Team Jim and Jordan Grieve. Sponsorship opportunities offer benefits that acknowledge the support of local contributors to the Shuswap music industry.
